Each house is unique. Homes, whether they’re new or old, hold their own personality. No matter what house you live in, making it YOURS is essential. So how do you do that?
Making your house feel like home comes down to one main thing: a collection of things that you love. Adding new pieces, sentimental accessories, artwork from past travels, family heirlooms or pictures is where the “hominess” lies. You can achieve this even if you are starting over with all new furniture! We all have sentiments that evoke our personality and an expression of ourselves.
For instance, if you were to walk into my personal home, you would see symbolism of birds, people, earth tones and crosses. These things provide me with peace and comfort. This brings me to my next point: it is so important to create a home that is a safe haven for you and your family. This is a place for highs and lows. In my design consultations, one of my first questions is always, “How do you want to feel in your home?” or “What makes you tick?”
I find it so important to create spaces that not only are collections of things my clients love but are also a place for celebrations, sadness and all seasons of life. My favorite saying is, “Oh, if these walls could talk…”.
Whether your home is new or old, stay true to yourself. Some clients say they like multiple styles and feel like they have to pick one over the other. This is false. Let us help you curate a space that is YOU. No matter if your style is modern or traditional, we can incorporate it all so that you LOVE where you LIVE.
